Energy Talent Search is working with an engineering company seeking a Chemical / Process Engineer in Houston, Texas. This position will support process design and engineering projects for chemical, petrochemical, and other industrial facilities.
The engineer will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design and FEED through detailed engineering, construction support, startup, and commissioning.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and supporting process documentation.
Prepare heat and material balances and perform process simulations using tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or ProMax.
Perform hydraulic calculations, line sizing, pressure-drop calculations, and other process engineering studies.
Size and specify process equipment and prepare technical specifications and datasheets.
Perform relief-system evaluations, relief-device sizing, and flare-system calculations.
Develop process design criteria and operating and control philosophies.
Review vendor drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
Participate in process safety activities including HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, and SIL reviews.
Work closely with mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.
Provide engineering support during construction, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
Communicate with clients, vendors, project teams, and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues and keep projects moving forward.
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
Process engineering experience within an EPC, EPCM, engineering consulting, or similar project-design environment.
Experience supporting chemical, petrochemical, refining, or similar process-industry projects.
Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals, including heat and material balances, process simulation, hydraulics, equipment sizing, and process design.
Experience developing and reviewing PFDs and P&IDs.
Experience with pressure-relief systems, relief-valve sizing, and process safety considerations.
Familiarity with process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, and/or ProMax.
Experience supporting projects through conceptual design, FEED, and detailed engineering.
Knowledge of HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, SIL, or similar process-safety methodologies.
Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
Experience supporting construction, startup, commissioning, and plant troubleshooting is preferred.
Must currently reside in the United States. Texas candidates are preferred.

Base Salary: $110,000–$140,000
