Process Engineer

Sterling Engineering is partnering with a growing manufacturing company to hire a Process Engineer. This hands-on engineering role is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, optimizing production workflows, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with SolidWorks, and enjoys working closely with production teams to improve efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are highly preferred. 

Responsibilities
  • Improve production assembly workflows by identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements.
  • Optimize production floor layouts and work cell designs to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Develop manufacturing methods, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production documentation for new products.
  • Perform time studies and establish production standards.
  • Create, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Review daily production metrics including efficiency, scrap, and schedule performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain and update engineering drawings and production documentation using SolidWorks.
  • Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and support new product implementation.
  • Troubleshoot production equipment issues and work with maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.
  • Participate in capital equipment evaluations and justify investments that improve manufacturing capacity and efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and corporate teams to support operational goals. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience improving manufacturing processes in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience creating manufacturing documentation, SOPs, BOMs, and engineering changes.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is highly preferred. 
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with capital equipment projects and manufacturing layout improvements.
  • Preventative maintenance program development experience.
  • Experience with pneumatic tools and manufacturing equipment.
  • Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Hands-on mechanical troubleshooting skills with a strong manufacturing mindset.
