The Process Automation Specialist is a key liaison between plant operations, electrical technicians, process engineering and electrical engineering. The specialist audits plant process control functions and makes recommendations for improvements to optimize production. The individual will also manage plant improvement requests to deliver documented tangible results for increased production and/or product quality for all of Luck Stone's operations.
This job requires extensive travel to be on site working on plant improvement projects and coaching/training operations and electrical technician associates. The individual is expected to engage and collaborate with all stakeholders involved in a project to develop the best possible solutions.
Travel Information This position will travel to sites from Leesburg VA to Culpeper VA. Vehicle will be provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
40% of job: • Design, develop, program and implement process control systems for small projects to optimize automated operations. • This includes developing Autocad project drawings, conduit/cable lists, PLC and HMI programs, and executing a successful safe start-up.
20% of job: • Serve as a reliability and troubleshooting resource for regional electrical technicians on all equipment used for plant power systems and PLC/HMI related issues. • This includes analyzing reoccurring issues for permanent solutions and assisting plants and electrical technicians with issues beyond the troubleshooting expertise of the local personnel. • Collaborate with technicians and operators to implement corrective actions or process improvements.
15% of job: • Manage electrical contractors including developing bid packages, contractor selection, on-site supervision, change order documentation, coordination with operations, quality assurance, and adherence to project budget and schedule. • Assist with the design effort on larger more complex projects with a focus on constructability, contractor documentation, power component design, schedule and start-up.
10% of job: • Develop and lead training for plant operations associates to further their understanding of operation of their plants and how controls are used to optimize those operations. • Act as and partner with other Subject Matter Experts to develop and Facilitate Technical Training Curriculum
