    Description

    JOB SUMMARY: Provides assessment and primary nursing services to consumers in the ambulatory withdrawal management unit. Monitors consumer for signs and symptoms of withdrawal and coordinates medical intervention in conjunction with the program Physician.

    Dispenses medications per Physicians orders. Provides psycho-educational services and support throughout the consumers’ stabilization process.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:    

    1. Completes nursing assessment as component of intake evaluation.
    2. Monitors and tracks consumers’ vital signs and indicators of withdrawal.
    3. Education for consumers on plan of care
    4. Coordinates processing of laboratory specimens and review of findings.
    5. Implements medical interventions as prescribed by the physician.
    6. Dispenses medications as prescribed and monitors/documents consumer response to these pharmacological interventions.
    7. Functions as member of interdisciplinary team.
    8. Provides after-hour emergency on call telephone coverage to consumers and their families on a rotational basis/and as appropriate.
    9. Cross training for multiple program RN needs.

    OTHER DUTIES:

    1. Maintains department compliance standards
    2. Provides and coordinates consumer referrals to community health partners
