Hospice of South Texas is seeking a PRN Certified Nursing Aide for the Inpatient Center Day and Night Shift AvailabilityNon-ExemptSome housekeeping requiredJob Summary: Primary function is to provide personal healthcare and related services to patients at the Hospice of South Texas Inpatient Center; to assist in providing a safe and clean environment, work cooperatively with patients and families and share observations and problems with a supervisor. Works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Licensure: Must have current Texas Driver's license and current State Nurse Aide License.Experience: Completion of approved Certified Nursing Aide Program in good standing on the state nurse aide registry. At least one-year experience required, preferably as a Hospice Aide or CNA in a hospital, nursing home, home health agency, or long-term care facility. Skills: Must be able to read and write English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively. Must pass Aide Competency Evaluation Skills Checklist and written skills test. Transportation: Reliable transportation. Valid and current auto liability insurance required. Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in Inpatient Center and sometimes a home environment in various conditions, possible exposure to blood and body fluids and infectious diseases.Physical and Mental Effort: Prolonged standing and walking required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move patients. Essential Functions: Provide direct patient care to patients under direction of the RN and according to the Aide Plan of Care. Provide necessary skills to assist patients with safe transfers and ambulation per agency policy. Provide necessary skills to appropriately report changes and document pertinent information and care rendered to patients to ensure continuity of care. Practice acceptable infection control principles. Provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment. Provide skills necessary to perform treatments and procedures according to agency policy. Promote the agency philosophy and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.
