    JOB SUMMARY

    The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for efficiently operating the imaging equipment and all ancillary equipment for all procedures in the CV Lab; importing/exporting all CD's; scrubbing and assisting physicians with all procedures.


    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Education

    High school graduate or equivalent

    Kentucky Certified Radiation Operator (general)

    Registered by ARRT

    BLS Certification

    ACLS Certification

     

    Minimum Work Experience

    Two years general experience in Radiology or one year as Vascular Technologist

     

    Required Skills

    Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.

    Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

     

    OSHA Category

    High potential for direct exposure.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Perform startup and shut down of Radiographic equipment.

    Operate the imaging equipment to obtain high quality diagnostic images.

    Send out cine film/CD's to other facilities as requested.

    Monitor radiation safety practices of Cardiovascular Lab personnel.

    Monitor film badge program.

    Demonstrate knowledge of cine film protector.

    Apply principles of radiation protection during all procedures.

    Operate all ancillary equipment use in Cardiovascular Lab.

    Participate in orientation of new staff members.

    Fluoro lead aprons yearly.

    Scrub and assist physician in conducting invasive cardiovascular procedures.

    Clean the cath area and equipment as required.

    Restock supplies on a daily basis as necessary.

    Prepare patient for procedure according to department policy.

    Provide transportation of patient to and from the Cardiovascular Lab.

    Attend and contribute to department staff meetings.

    Ensure all preop lab, EKG, History & Physical and consent are complete prior to procedure.

    Complete patient protocol sheets and logbook.

    Record and monitor patients' hemodynamic data.

    Assist with code blue and resuscitation of patient.
