Job description

Group Description: The Private Capital Markets (PCM) team is a leader in advising corporate and financial sponsor clients on capital structure-related matters across buyside, sellside and strategic transactions. Evercore's PCM team partners with coverage groups on raising primary debt and structured equity capital for clients to support a variety of transactions including, but not limited to, acquisitions, growth capital, dividend recapitalizations and stressed financings.

The Credit Ratings team sits within PCM and specializes in advising companies and sponsors on credit rating strategy, rating agency positioning, transaction implications, ratings outcomes and broader capital structure considerations. The team spends time developing thoughtful, analytically supported positioning to help clients communicate their credit story effectively to the rating agencies and advocating for stronger ratings outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of credit rating advisory mandates, including coordinating process and timeline, preparing rating materials, conducting ratings agency analyst outreach and facilitating agency due diligence process
  • Develop client marketing and origination materials, including identifying relevant rating considerations, precedents and analytical angles
  • Develop and synthesize market views, rating agency trends and sector-specific credit considerations, and prepare materials supporting such views for internal and external presentations
  • Work with industry coverage and product teams to evaluate capital structure and transaction alternatives, including analyzing financial, leverage, credit rating and other implications for client marketing and transaction execution
  • Take ownership of workstreams, anticipate next steps and drive assignments forward
  • Collaborate closely with industry and M&A bankers, as well as other Evercore product teams, including Activism / Defense, ECM, Restructuring, Tax Advisory and others, on holistic capital structure and strategic advisory mandates
  • Perform detailed business, financial and credit analysis, including historical and projected financial statement analysis, leverage and coverage analysis, peer benchmarking

Specific Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant professional experience at a leading investment bank, credit rating agency or other financial advisory firm; experience in M&A, capital markets, leveraged finance, credit analysis or ratings advisory is particularly relevant
  • Strong understanding of the three financial statements and their interrelationships, with experience analyzing historical and projected financial performance
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and ability to independently evaluate and act on complex situations
  • Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills, with the ability to perform detailed financial analysis and translate complex information into clear, polished and compelling client materials
  • Interest in and experience using technology, including AI tools, to improve the efficiency and quality of work product
  • Creative and independent thinker who can identify new analytical approaches, develop thoughtful solutions to complex client situations and form a point of view
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, ability to anticipate team needs and willingness to take on a broad range of assignments in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Outstanding analytical, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Education: B.S. or B.A.

Expected Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000
