About the Opportunity

Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a Prior Learning & Apprenticeship Manager to provide support, manage projects and provide services to students in the apprenticeship and prior learning area.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides frontline customer service and serves as a liaison between students, faculty, community and
  • staff, providing information, parameters and guidelines for apprenticeships and prior learning.
  • Provides mentorship and support services to students including pre-registration, intake assessments and individualized student success plans on a case management basis.
  • Schedules appointments, monitors student progress, attendance and academic performance and addresses barriers to completion.
  • Works with general populations and adult learners for prior learning assessments and processes qualifying prior learning credit.
  • Follows guidelines for processing registration authorizations, prior learning payments, book
  • vouchers and account holds as established by internal and external processes and regulations.
  • Maintains student files in compliance with program requirements, as assigned
  • Teaches sessions within the pre-apprenticeship curriculum in alignment with the course objectives, as assigned.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty to design, develop and refine pre-apprenticeship curricula, ensure curriculum aligns with industry standards and apprenticeship requirements, participates in curriculum review meetings and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains course shells for pre-apprenticeship programs.
  • Coordinates special projects and college and community events for the prior learning and apprenticeship office.
  • Identifies, recruits and cultivates relationships with employers across targeted industries to create transitions from pre-apprenticeship to registered apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Manages a database of employer partners, tracking engagement levels and placement outcomes.
  • Attends industry events to expand employer networks.
  • Collaborates with other departments to support recruitment and outreach activities such as facilitating presentations, campus tours and company site visits.
  • Supervises the work of student workers and interns, as assigned.
  • Prepares reports of program metrics, outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Assists with compliance reporting for apprenticeship funding sources and contributes to department strategic planning and program expansion initiatives.
  • Works with marketing to create materials and promotional content for distribution.
  • Orders, processes and maintains office materials and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are requirements. An example of this would be an bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience.
