Prior Authorization Flow Operator
Location Dallas, TX 75244 Date Posted September 03, 2026 Job ID 15214 Employment Type Contract Pay rate $38/hour
Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Prior Authorization Flow Operator for a growing healthcare technology organization supporting infusion centers and specialty medication practices. This is a fully remote opportunity for candidates working within the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Prior Authorization Flow Operator will review complex prior authorization and medical policy cases involving infusion therapies and provider-administered specialty medications billed under the medical benefit. This role requires hands-on experience with prior authorizations for infused specialty drugs, biologics, IVIg, monoclonal antibodies, and/or other provider-administered medications, with responsibility for interpreting payer requirements, medical policies, clinical documentation, and coverage criteria. This individual will step into cases requiring human judgment when automated systems cannot confidently determine an outcome and identify whether authorization requirements are met, additional documentation is needed, or further review is required.
PERKS:
Competitive compensation of $38-$40 per hour.
100% remote opportunity for candidates working within the Central Time Zone.
Work directly with infusion therapies, specialty medications, payer operations, and innovative healthcare technology.
Deepen your expertise in medical-benefit prior authorization, payer medical policies, specialty medications, and utilization management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review escalated medical-benefit prior authorization cases involving infusion therapies and provider-administered specialty medications, including IVIg, biologics, monoclonal antibodies, and other infused or injectable therapies.
Evaluate payer medical policies, medication-specific coverage criteria, clinical documentation, medical-necessity requirements, structured case data, and system-generated recommendations.
Determine whether documentation supports authorization requirements and identify missing clinical information or medical-necessity documentation needed to move cases forward.
Distinguish true payer denials from documentation gaps, incorrect classifications, missing information, and system-generated errors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Direct, hands-on prior authorization experience involving infusion medications or provider-administered specialty drugs under the medical benefit is required.
Experience obtaining, reviewing, processing, or supporting authorizations for IVIg, biologics, monoclonal antibodies, infused specialty drugs, or comparable provider-administered therapies.
Strong understanding of medical-benefit medication authorization workflows and how they differ from traditional retail or pharmacy-benefit prescription drug prior authorizations.
Experience interpreting payer medical policies, medical-necessity criteria, and medication-specific coverage requirements, including payer portals, clinical documentation, denials, appeals, and authorization follow-up.
Experience with J-codes, HCPCS codes, buy-and-bill medications, benefits verification, medical-benefit reimbursement workflows, or infusion-specific healthcare systems is highly preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This position offers $38-$40 per hour and is fully remote for candidates working within the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT). Benefits and additional details will be discussed throughout the interview process.
