    The shift starts with a walk-through of incoming paperboard and substrates. You verify material specs, confirm machine make-ready, and complete the day’s first-article check before presses hit full speed. As production moves from Press to Die Cutting, on to Folding & Gluing, Bindery, and Labels, you’re the steady hand protecting quality at every checkpoint.

    What you’ll own

    • Inspect incoming raw materials to confirm they meet defined requirements.
    • Review equipment setups and make-ready steps to ensure production will meet spec.
    • Execute first-article, in-process, and final inspections across each production stage.
    • Test against key criteria: print characteristics, gloss, appearance, dimensions, thickness, and product compatibility.
    • Perform specialized tests: scuff/scratch resistance, ink/varnish/foil adhesion, code verification, bond strength, opening force, closing performance, and drop testing.
    • Decide product disposition (accept, block, or reject) based on findings.
    • Document results with precision and enter quality data into the appropriate systems.
    • Generate product ID and quality tags, including load tags, quarantine tags, and scrap authorization tickets.
    • Assemble customer samples, color range books, final product samples, and defect panoplies.
    • Communicate clearly with Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, and Shipping to resolve issues quickly.
    • Follow established procedures and safety standards while modeling best practices.

    What sets you up for success

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Preferably 1–3 years in quality control/inspection within printing, packaging, folding cartons, or related manufacturing.
    • Meticulous attention to detail; you readily spot defects and inconsistencies.
    • Hands-on familiarity with inspection tools and measuring equipment.
    • Comfort reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.
    • Solid basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions and exercise sound judgment as conditions change.
    • Collaborative approach with production and cross-functional partners.
    • Corrected 20/20 vision with accurate color discrimination to identify print and folding-carton defects.
