The Principal Traffic Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in traffic and transportation design and construction that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Civil Engineer that has 8+ years of experience to work on-site and part-time in the Anaheim area. 

Projects may include:

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Initiative – citywide projects integrating AI data, smart cameras and upgraded communication software to reduce congestion and improve safety
  • At-Grade Projects – replacement and new installation of gates and signals at railroad crossings for pedestrian, bicyclist, and automobile traffic

As a Principal Traffic Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the planning, coordination, and supervision of Engineering Division programs, including assigning work, monitoring project progress, mentoring staff, and reviewing technical work products to ensure quality and compliance with City standards.
  • Manage the preparation and review of engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, bid documents, City Council reports, budgets, environmental documents, RFPs/RFQs, grant applications, and other technical reports for public works capital improvement projects.
  • Manage and oversee engineering consultants, review engineering design plans and specifications, and provide direction for design modifications to ensure compliance with agency standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, regulatory agencies, consultants, developers, architects, contractors, and property owners to support project delivery, construction contract administration, plan checking, and successful completion of public works projects.
  • Provide technical and administrative support on division operations, engineering initiatives, and special projects.
