    Description

The R2L (Rapid and Rural Logistics) team is responsible for building the next generation supply chain for Amazon"s world-class ultra-fast customer experiences, including Amazon Fresh groceries, Sub-Same Day, Amazon Now, and other soon-to-launch exciting new businesses. Join us and you"ll be taking part in serving our customers in as fast as 30 minutes!

We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead our most complex, cross-organizational technical programs spanning AI/ML, data engineering, and business intelligence. In this role, you will own the end-to-end delivery of our multi-year AI roadmap across the R2L value chain - Launch, Planning, Operations, and Analytics - translating ambiguous business strategy into executable technical programs that deliver measurable impact at scale.

As the senior-most TPM on the team, you will operate with significant autonomy, setting the technical program strategy rather than executing a predefined plan. You will drive alignment across Product, Business Intelligence Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, and Systems Development, and partner directly with senior leadership (Director/VP) to shape priorities, surface tradeoffs, and remove organizational blockers. You will be trusted to identify which problems are worth solving, define the approach, and hold a large, distributed set of stakeholders to a single coherent plan.

This is a high-visibility role with a broad blast radius. The programs you lead directly inform leadership decision-making, carry significant cost-savings entitlement, and set the foundation for autonomous, self-optimizing operations across the R2L network. You will raise the bar for technical program management across the organization - establishing mechanisms, standards, and operating rhythms that other teams adopt.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own the lifecycle of large, complex, multi-team technology programs from concept through delivery - defining the long-term roadmap for data solutions, intelligent analytics, and platform modernization across the R2L value chain (Launch, Planning, Operations, and Analytics).
    • Champion the adoption of Generative AI tools, drive measurable productivity gains, and establish best practices for AI-assisted planning, execution, and reporting.
    • Drive alignment across senior stakeholders - Product, Business Intelligence Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, and Systems Development - on definitions, standards, architecture, and priorities.
    • Influence system owners, architecture decisions, and organizational priorities across VP orgs, operating effectively without direct authority.
    • Establish scalable delivery mechanisms - intake, prioritization, roadmap governance, operating cadences, and risk management - adopted across the org.
    • Own program communication - drive crisp decisions, clear blockers, escalate appropriately, and present effectively to senior leadership; draft strategic documents (MTR, MBR/QBR, design docs, PR/FAQ, OP1/OP2) that synthesize complex problems into clear narratives.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
