Overview

The Azure High Performance Computing & Artificial Intelligence (HPC & AI) Platform team builds the infrastructure that powers the worlds most advanced AI and technical computing workloads. We define and deliver the hardware roadmap, software platform, and core services that enable customers to train frontier AI models, deploy large-scale inference systems, run complex scientific simulations, accelerate engineering innovation, and create immersive digital experiences.

Our platform serves many of Azures most strategic customers, providing supercomputer-scale capabilities that push the boundaries of artificial intelligence and scientific discovery. The systems we build power some of the largest AI training environments on the planet, helping customers transform industries, accelerate breakthroughs, and solve problems that were previously impossible at cloud scale.

We are seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead the strategy, execution, and delivery of customer-facing AI supercomputing programs. In this role, you will partner with leading AI organizations, engineering teams, and executive stakeholders across Microsoft to deliver hyperscale AI infrastructure that supports frontier model training and next-generation AI workloads. You will drive complex, cross-organizational programs spanning datacenter infrastructure, hardware platforms, networking, storage, software systems, reliability, and operations.

The successful candidate combines deep technical expertise in AI systems and large-scale distributed computing with exceptional leadership and execution skills. You will define long-term vision, align stakeholders across multiple organizations, influence executive decision-making, and lead through ambiguity to deliver business-critical outcomes. This role requires a proven track record of managing highly visible programs, translating customer needs into scalable platform capabilities, and driving results through broad influence rather than direct authority.

As a leader on the Azure HPC & AI Platform team, you will help shape the future of AI infrastructure and enable the training and deployment of the worlds most advanced AI models. Your work will directly impact Microsofts most strategic AI customers and contribute to defining the next generation of cloud-scale AI supercomputing.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for supporting our most important AI customers as they embark on their cloud AI journey.
• Work closely with key customers and partners to fuel the growth of the Azure AI platform.
• Strong Principal Technical Program Manager to drive highly impactful cross-organization initiatives around leading AI Infrastructure spanning multiple Azure products and services.
• A self-starter with proven track record of managing complex program/project to successful completion, working across a large set of cross-functional stakeholders.
• Willing and able to mentor members of the team and provide support to our Product Management team.
• Candidate must be coachable and a team player.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

• OR equivalent experience.

• 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree AND 15+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

• OR equivalent experience.

• 10+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

• 5+ years of experience with modern cloud infrastructure concepts and design techniques

• 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

• 1+ year(s) of experience proven technical program management track record with strong history of delivering highly effective and collaborative products in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environment.

Technical Program Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $165,600 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
