We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer, Edge Compute to join our team in one of todays most exciting technologies. This role will report to Sr Director Software Engineering and based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and optimize system‑level and backend services in Rust or Go. • Debug complex issues across services, integrations, and network layers. • Build and maintain components that interact with TCP/UDP protocols, streaming data sources, and real‑time systems. • Collaborate cross‑functionally to integrate with internal and external APIs and services. • Contribute to strong engineering practices including code reviews, documentation, and operational readiness. • Follow disciplined SDLC processes to ensure maintainability, reliability, and secure delivery.
Skills and Experience:
• At least 10 years of overall programming experience with strong programming experience in Rust or Go (or other compiled languages with intent to transition). • Solid debugging skills across systems boundaries (services, integrations, networking). • Strong understanding of network fundamentals, including: TCP/UDP Network latency, packet flows, connection management Streaming data patterns & backpressure • TCP/UDP • Network latency, packet flows, connection management • Streaming data patterns & backpressure • Experience working with git and modern software development workflows. • Proven ability to work in a disciplined engineering environment (testing, CI, documentation, peer reviews).
Nice to have Skills
• Familiarity with Helm charts and Kubernetes application deployment. • Experience with containers (Docker, container tools) and secure containers. • Understanding of edge security concepts and secure software practices. • Exposure to DevOps pipelines, CI/CD systems, or GitHub Actions / similar tools.
