Position Description:

Designs and implements software solutions that enhance service reliability and operational efficiency in cloud environments. Develops advanced engineering capabilities by leveraging cutting-edge software tools and techniques, and applies deepening knowledge of enterprise networks and systems, across both on premises and cloud platforms, to support cybersecurity-focused network engineering initiatives from a software engineering perspective.  Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participates in architecture design teams.
• Defines and implements application-level architecture.
• Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
• Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
• Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on-budget.
• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
• Advises senior management on technical strategy.
• Mentors junior team members.
• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing secure full stack cloud‑based applications.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing secure full stack cloud‑based applications.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, documenting, and publishing microservice-based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for internal and external consumption using Swagger and OpenAPI; defining REST API contracts with JavaScript Object Notation (JSON); and developing Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) API clients from service stubs and object models.
• DE developing and maintaining real-time, multi-client data synchronization frameworks using GraphQL, WebSockets, and message-queue architectures; and containerizing application servers and databases with Docker and Docker Compose for scalable deployment and integration testing.
• DE implementing and maintaining application and infrastructure security, including Web Application Firewall (WAF) configurations across Akamai, AWS, and Azure; configuring perimeter security controls -- firewalls and Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP) -‑ aligned protections; supporting secure APIs, certificates, authentication, and access control; and integrating centralized logging, monitoring, and threat detection using Splunk.
• DE building and optimizing enterprise and financial services applications using server-side technologies (Java, Spring, JUnit, Python, and JavaScript) and client-side technologies (HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, and jQuery); designing and implementing iOS application layers in Swift to support application presentation, client-side business logic, and interaction with backend services; performing database performance tuning for PostgreSQL and SQLite; troubleshooting HTTP-based integrations and system interactions using client URL (cURL), Postman, and HTTP Archive (HAR) files; and architecting highly available, multi-region AWS platforms using Application Load Balancer (ALB), Auto Scaling Group (ASG), Route 53, and CloudFormation.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
