Principal / Senior Principal Mapping Designer Pipeline Systems

Position Overview

Aspen Technical Staffing is seeking an experienced Principal / Senior Principal Mapping Designer Pipeline Systems for a long-term contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Englewood, CO.

This position will support pipeline mapping, route selection, and design for onshore oil and gas, CO2, and hydrogen pipeline projects throughout the United States.

Denver-area candidates are preferred; however, 100% remote candidates will be considered and must work Mountain Time Zone hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop pipeline mapping deliverables, including alignment sheets, strip maps, crossing drawings, permit drawings, and right-of-way exhibits.

• Perform pipeline mapping, route selection, and corridor design using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

• Coordinate with survey teams to review and incorporate survey data into pipeline designs.

• Utilize GIS and geospatial data to support routing studies, permitting, and project execution.

• Collaborate with engineering, environmental, land, and construction teams.

• Review design deliverables for accuracy, quality, and constructability.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers.

• Support project planning, scheduling, and technical coordination.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of pipeline mapping and design experience; 12+ years preferred for Senior Principal consideration.

• Experience with onshore U.S. oil and gas, CO2, and/or hydrogen pipeline projects.

• Strong proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD (2022 or newer).

• Experience developing pipeline alignment sheets, strip maps, and route designs.

• Knowledge of pipeline routing, right-of-way requirements, and survey coordination.

• Familiarity with ArcGIS and geospatial mapping applications.

• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with pipeline gathering, transmission, and distribution systems.

• Experience coordinating survey activities and integrating survey data.

• Familiarity with Skyline, Microsoft Access, and civil grading/drainage design.

• Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.

Key Hiring Priorities

1. Pipeline Mapping Design Strong experience with pipeline routing, mapping, and design.

2. Civil 3D Advanced hands-on proficiency with Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

3. Survey Coordination Experience working with survey teams and incorporating survey data into designs.
