Overview
Security is one of the most important priorities for organizations facing digital threats, regulatory requirements, and complex technology environments. Microsoft Security is committed to helping customers protect their people, data, applications, and infrastructure with integrated solutions.
Within Microsoft Security Engineering, the Customer Value Creation organization helps turn the right innovation into customer value, faster. We connect insights from customers, partners, product usage, support, and other sources with the teams making product decisions, helping improve product experiences, accelerate adoption, and make Microsoft Security solutions easier to deploy, use, and support.
We are looking for Principal Product Managers to own how post-launch customer feedback for:
You will bring together post-launch input from support trends, incidents, customer-facing teams, product usage, and research; use AI-assisted analysis to group related feedback, identify patterns, and support prioritization; determine whether an issue is a product gap or a configuration, integration, or operational challenge; and turn the findings into actionable recommendations for Product Engineering. You will drive tradeoff decisions across quality, supportability, and product improvement, using evidence and human judgment so customer priorities are handled consistently across Microsoft Security.
The ideal candidates have already led this type of work in a complex product organization. You have built and operated a customer feedback or product-insights process that multiple teams adopted, used technical and business evidence to shape engineering decisions, and influenced Product and Engineering without direct authority. You bring product judgment, deep understanding of customer support and escalation workflows, technical depth in enterprise security and cloud architectures, and a record of driving qualified feedback from intake through engineering decision and follow-up with customer-facing teams. Engineering teams trust the quality of your analysis, and peers rely on you to make the feedback process consistent, data-driven, and fair. Success in this role requires clear roles and focus at scale rather than handling every individual request. The specific product areas may change with business needs, but the purpose remains the same: bring post-launch signals together, deliver what matters most to Product Engineering, and close the loop.
Responsibilities
Run the post-launch feedback process: Lead a cross-functional virtual team that applies a shared, organization-wide framework for triaging, delivering, and closing the loop on in-market customer feedback, including incident and non-incident items. Help evolve the framework with partner teams across the organization.
Build insights dashboards and accelerate decisions: Define the data model, metrics, and insights dashboards that give Product, Engineering, field, and support leaders a clear view of status, decisions, and impact. Use telemetry, analytics, and AI to combine feedback signals, identify patterns, remove duplicates, and assess impact and urgency. Use automation to route feedback, maintain traceability, and shorten the time from intake to decision.
Drive adoption across the team: Coach peer product managers and partner teams to use the process consistently. Measure adoption and quality, and improve the system based on results and feedback.
Build a clear and technically credible customer voice: Bring together post-launch signals from support, field, customers, partners, product usage, and research. Turn them into focused recommendations for Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Entra that are supported by technical and business evidence.
Engage customers when it sharpens a decision: Work primarily through internal teams and available evidence, and meet directly with enterprise customers, security operations teams, or identity practitioners when firsthand context is needed to clarify architectures, workflows, integrations, technical blockers, or expected product behavior.
Validate and diagnose product signals: Work with field, support, Product, Engineering, and subject matter experts to assess reproducibility, severity, scale, telemetry, workarounds, and possible root causes, separating product gaps from configuration or operational issues.
Influence product direction: Turn complex customer scenarios into clear problem statements, requirements, and tradeoffs that Product and Engineering leaders can use when making decisions about quality, supportability, architecture, adoption, and investment. Balance customer impact with technical feasibility, dependencies, and capacity.
Drive decisions and closure: Deliver qualified feedback to the right Product Engineering owners, make sure each item receives a clear decision, rationale, timing, and accountable follow-through, and keep field and support teams updated on outcomes.
Partner with clear roles: Work with support, field, and subject matter expert teams across the organization, with each team contributing expertise in its area. Bring product management and support expertise without duplicating their roles.
Provide technical thought leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor on security operations, threat protection, identity, and post-launch product health. Explain complex technical issues clearly to practitioner and executive audiences.
Model Microsoft values: Create an inclusive, collaborative environment and demonstrate accountability, customer focus, and a growth mindset.
