About the Role:

Subscriber Acquisition is one of the most consequential product areas at Dow Jones: the engine that drives new paying subscribers and registered users into The Wall Street Journal, Barrons, MarketWatch, and beyond. As Principal Product Manager on the Subscriber Acquisition team, you will own acquisition products including paywall strategy, shop pages, checkout, and partnerships from end-to-end. You will also own new vertical launches across a multi-brand portfolio. You will lead a team of product managers and work closely with marketing, engineering, design, and subscription strategy to set direction, run experiments, and ship products that directly move the business. You will also help enable the shift to the use of more AI tools in product management across your team. You will report to the VP of Product, Commerce.

About the Team:

Our Technology team drives the evolution of our Technology, Engineering, Data, Product and User Experience functions. With a keen focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions, we shape the digital landscape for our customers, readers and users. From revolutionizing visuals to optimizing tools and harnessing the power of data, mobile, video and social platforms, our team is committed to providing a seamless and immersive experience across all touchpoints. Collaborating closely with our newsrooms and strategic partners, we spearhead the development of groundbreaking products and technologies.

You Will:

  • Work with marketing and subscription business stakeholders to define and execute the long-term product strategy for subscriber acquisition

  • Lead and develop a team of product managers as a player-coach

  • Own prioritization and trade-offs across a multi-brand portfolio (WSJ, Barrons, MarketWatch)

  • Drive alignment with engineering, design, marketing, data science, and senior leadership

  • Design and run a rigorous experimentation program, using A/B testing and funnel analysis to drive measurable conversion outcomes

  • Own the technical strategy for core acquisition systems (paywall platform, onsite commerce tooling and checkout)

  • Translate complex configurations into accessible plans for technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Drive the product strategy for new verticals and partnership programs, working directly with senior leadership

  • Exhibit strong product judgment on high-impact decisions, balancing conversion goals with user experience, ad revenue, and long-term brand health

You Have:

  • At least 10 years' product management experience with a focus on subscription acquisition, direct-to-consumer, or e-commerce products

  • A track record of managing and developing product managers

  • Proven ability to use AI tools to improve the quality and velocity of your work

  • Deep expertise in experimentation and data-driven decision making

  • The ability to engage in detailed discussions with engineering, understand paywall and subscription system architecture, and make informed product decisions

  • A track record of influencing executive level stakeholders (VP-level and above)

  • A strong understanding of acquisition funnel metrics

  • Knowledge of digital media and subscription businesses

  • Experience with the Piano or Braze platforms (a plus)
