Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy's Power Generation Division is looking for a Principal Engineer for the Steam Turbine Fleet Team (STFT) within Engineering and Operations Support Services (EOSS). This position is responsible for providing leadership and decision making for a large fleet of steam turbines across fossil and nuclear units. The role includes ownership of complex troubleshooting efforts, fleet-wide technical standards, and strategic initiatives focused on improving reliability, reducing forced outages, and optimizing operational and maintenance costs. The Principal Engineer partners closely with operations, maintenance, leadership, and external stakeholders to drive consistent and sustainable fleet performance improvements.The STFT Principal Engineer will own and be accountable for the following key tasks:

  • Provide technical leadership and decision making for steam turbine fleet assets, ensuring consistent engineering standards and risk-informed solutions.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts, including root cause investigations for chronic or systemic fleet issues.
  • Manage and maintain fleet engineering documentation, including Engineering Requests, Work Orders, OEM bulletins, and MOCs.
  • Support strategic initiatives aimed at improving fleet reliability, availability, and cost performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders on outage planning, long-term asset strategy, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Leverage advanced analytics and artificial intelligence tools to evaluate equipment performance, identify emerging reliability risks, and support data-driven engineering decisions.
  • Support fossil and nuclear units during planned outages, emergent events, and special steam turbine projects.
