Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Food Service Worker is responsible for supporting patient meal service and ensuring meals are prepared, assembled, and delivered accurately and safely. You will work across assigned tray assembly stations, follow proper food handling and sanitation practices, and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.

You will present menus to patients and assist with menu selections as needed, distribute meals according to the Diet Master List, deliver snacks, and collect meal trays following service. You will also transport food carts to the designated elevator and maintain tray service operations as needed. Other duties may be assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in food service, including meal service, tray assembly, and/or general food service.

  • Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions sufficiently to accurately identify food items and patient menu selections.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced tray assembly environment.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations without the use of a calculator.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of various therapeutic diets.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with co-workers, medical staff, patients, supervisors, and management.

  • Ability to comply with departmental dress code requirements.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive activities, including stretching, bending, pushing, walking, lifting, and reaching.

  • Ability to lift and push heavy food service carts.

  • Willingness to attend required departmental training classes.
