What you will do

  • Own site safety practices and align with client safety rules.
  • Shape scopes of work and support costing, quoting, and planning with customer leadership.
  • Build timelines and resource plans with Project Engineers and Program Managers.
  • Contribute to engineering design packages; run customer/vendor design reviews.
  • Locate, verify, and interpret engineering drawings (utility loads, foundations, etc.).
  • Coordinate with municipalities and inspectors to keep permitted work on track.
  • Develop resource and workflow plans; assign tasks to internal staff and vendor teams.
  • Source materials and vendors; manage quotes and execution support.
  • Lead installation direction for mechanical systems (pipefitters, plumbers) and electrical/controls teams.
  • Approve technical reports before internal or client distribution.
  • Enforce codes, QA/QC measures, specs, and best practices.
  • Coach engineers and team leads; conduct performance check-ins—formal and informal.
  • Provide daily client updates, answer questions, and capture changing requirements.

Compensation and travel

  • Starting Pay Range: $101k–$110k annually
  • Travel load: ~75% overall; onsite rotations typically 3–4 weeks and occasionally a couple of months.
  • Company-arranged travel: Flights, hotels, and rental cars are booked and paid in advance.
  • Mileage: Personal vehicle mileage from home to the work site reimbursed at $0.725/mile (hotel-to-jobsite mileage not reimbursed).
  • Per diem: $70.00 per day.
  • PTO: 120 hours accrued annually; usage with manager approval.
  • Benefits: Health coverage starts the first day of the month after your start date.
  • Cadence: Travel is continuous with periodic breaks, particularly around holidays.

Required background

  • 3+ years in an industrial role such as Operations Engineer, Technical Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Project Engineer.
  • Comfort with 70%–80% travel and 2–4 week onsite stints.
  • Hands-on leadership style and strong field decision-making.
  • Reliable, road-worthy personal vehicle.
  • AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks familiarity; advanced understanding of drawings and standards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Knowledge of industrial codes/regulations and cross-trade coordination (Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Concrete/Masonry, Rigging).
  • Project management and supervisory experience; strong critical thinking.
  • Commitment to safety, organization, and time management; willing to work in dirty/uncomfortable conditions when required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a similar discipline (required).
  • Electrical/mechanical trade certifications considered equitably.
  • Business or organizational management training preferred.
