POSITION SUMMARY

Describe overall job purpose.

Supervise the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and all associated equipment at Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizer plant and perform related duties as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

List any education, certifications, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related field required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

List years of experience required for the position.

  • +10 years of experience in industrial water treatment plant operation preferred.
  • Lab experience in sample collecting and analysis of water chemistry.
  • +5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Process optimization, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills are preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Actions that define the elements of the job's overall purpose.

  • Direct the activities of operations to maintain the highest quality utility water for the most efficient and reliable plant performance.
  • Operate and maintain the cold lime softening clarifier unit to maintain clarifier chemistry during varying river conditions.
  • Operate and maintain boiler feed water pretreatment equipment including multi-media filters, reverse osmosis unit and zeolite softeners.
  • Continuously monitor water chemistry throughout the plant by performing various testing and maintaining records of test results for tracking and troubleshooting.
  • Schedule necessary chemical deliveries for water treatment plant to maintain inventories. Off load chemicals into necessary storage tanks.
  • Continuously train operations personnel on operation of water treatment plant and water testing requirements.
  • Monitor steam generators chemistry and make necessary adjustments to chemical feed and blowdown rates.
  • Monitor steam purity to condensing turbines to maintain turbine efficiency.
  • Monitor heat exchangers efficiency to ensure water treatment chemicals are performing well and maintaining plant reliability.
  • Maintain correct corrosion inhibitor levels in the UAN product.
  • Monitor gasification grey water chemistry and maintain anti-foam feed system.
  • Work closely with water treatment chemical providers to make sure vendor services are providing necessary results at the lowest possible costs.
  • Schedule maintenance to be done on water treatment plant during turnarounds and plant outages. Supervise maintenance on water treatment plant during turnaround to make sure all work is completed prior to necessary startup date.
  • Evaluate alternative water treatment programs to reduce costs and/or increase water quality and plant performance.
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.

  • Always have water available at the optimum quality to be used anywhere in the plant at any time.
  • Plant will operate from turnaround to turnaround before any heat exchangers have to be cleaned or repaired.
  • All water chemistry will be always controlled within the designed ranges.
  • Maintain chemical costs at or below projected yearly budget for water treatment chemicals.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures
