What you’ll be doing..
We're building an internal API Gateway platform that consolidates network operations, project management, and AI-assisted tooling for a global network engineering organization. You'll design and ship APIs, widgets, and AI agents that run against production data center inventory (Cisco Nexus, Pica8, Arista) and drive real infrastructure decisions — site refreshes, tech refreshes, NAC deployments, and switch migrations across dozens of enterprise sites.
This is a hands-on builder role. You'll write the API, design the schema, build the Vue.js view, wire up the agent, and own the outcome end-to-end.
API Development & Security:Designing and building REST APIs (Node.js) against Postgres, with versioning, input schemas, caching, and hybrid NP/prod auth models.
Frontend UI & Dashboards:Building widgets and Vue.js views that surface network inventory and operational metrics (counts dashboards, site status, work-item boards).
AI Integration & Agent Automation:Configuring and extending AI agents (MCP servers, tool bindings, prompt design) that assist network engineers with day-to-day ops.
Relational Database Modeling:Modeling relational data for work-item tracking, project management, and CMDB-adjacent inventory.
End-to-End Delivery Lifecycle:Owning the full lifecycle: schema migration API widget agent tool PR prod deploy.
Full-Stack Troubleshooting:Debugging across the stack: platform security policies, credential vaults, DB pool exhaustion, agent tool-call failures.
Operations Collaboration & Alignment:Collaborating with network engineers to translate ops asks ("we need a counts page showing X Nexus, Y Pica8") into shipped features.
What we’re looking for...
You will need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Experience in JavaScript/Node.js — async patterns, REST handler design and error handling.
Strong SQL and relational modeling — Postgres preferred; comfortable writing migrations, joins, and parameterized queries.
Frontend fundamentals — Vue.js (or React), HTML/CSS, browser networking, state management for dashboards.
API design discipline — input validation, versioning, idempotency, auth, rate limiting.
Even better if you have:
Network engineering domain knowledge (Cisco Nexus, Pica8, Arista, NAC, VXLAN, data center refresh workflows).
Git workflow proficiency — branching, PR hygiene, disciplined commits, comfortable with staged/unstaged distinctions.
Debugging across boundaries — reading platform errors, tracing failures from UI API DB external system.
Security-aware coding — credential vaults, secrets handling, least privilege, understanding prod vs non-prod boundaries.
Clear written communication — turning fuzzy asks into scoped work items; documentation others can act on.
Experience with AI agents / LLM tool-use patterns (MCP, function calling, agent orchestration).
Project management systems (PMO, epics/stories/tasks) and integrations with them.
Prior work on internal developer platforms or low-code/API-gateway tooling.
Experience with ServiceNow, CMDB, or IT asset management systems.
You've shipped multiple end-to-end features (schema API UI agent tool) that network engineers use weekly.
You've reduced manual toil for at least one recurring ops workflow.
You've extended the platform's agent capabilities so engineers can get answers conversationally instead of navigating dashboards.
You're trusted to own a domain end-to-end and make architectural calls without hand-holding.
