Position Overview:

Power Your Future with Qualus as a Principal P&C Engineer within our Project Management Organization.  Qualus specializes in engineering design and consultation for the power systems industry.  Our project team is comprised of technical engineers and operational professionals who work to guarantee that our product designs are consistent with client expectations. 

Responsible for the design of electrical protection and control systems for generation, transmission and distribution systems with emphasis on quality and project costs following client’s requirements and internal company’s quality control and quality assurance practices. 

Responsibilities:
  • Development of complete engineering design packages for protective relaying and communications systems, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications and bill of materials.
  • Provides technical direction and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and less experienced engineers.
  • Developing, nurturing and maintaining trusted relationships with senior level engineering, managers, and executives with current or prospective clients.
  • Confidently and comfortably present technical solutions to key customers respond in real time to technical concerns and answer questions in a knowledgeable articulate manner.
  • Expected to work collaboratively with the appropriate groups/individuals to develop and implement technical solutions that support the objectives of the Engineering Department.
  • Plays a critical role in establishing technical direction and philosophy for Relay Settings organization, and must possess high technical competence and have the recognition of his peers within the company and industry.
  • Assignments on projects require the highest level of critical thinking to resolve high-impact, complex, and/or cross functional problems.
  • Provides leadership by assigning and reviewing projects or job tasks and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
  • Delegating, planning, prioritizing and reviewing the work of other engineers will be critical.
  • Assist with the development of internal training material.
  • Perform/Ensure company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are been follow on all Protection and Control activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (not engineering technology program). An international engineering degree will be considered. A post graduate engineering/science or business degree is also preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of electrical engineering experience is required, experience in protection and control engineering is required.

The compensation range for this position is provided in accordance with applicable laws and market practices.
