A day in this role — Mesa, AZ
Your morning starts by reviewing schematics in Altium for a new interface board destined for a military aircraft. By mid-day, you’re on the bench validating CCAs and printed circuit boards, probing signals, and refining I/O assumptions. In the afternoon, you pair with firmware engineers to update embedded code paths, then close the day documenting system requirements and preparing feedback for an upcoming design review. Along the way, you’re scanning industry news and standards, pulling in fresh ideas to keep our solutions ahead of the curve.
Core work you'll own
- Design, develop, and validate electrical systems built around CCAs, printed circuit boards, and embedded firmware for platforms that integrate with military aircraft.
- Architect, implement, debug, deploy, and maintain electronic hardware for new and legacy ICE products.
- Define, capture, and maintain hardware, data I/O, and end‑to‑end system requirements; translate them into clear specifications and testable acceptance criteria.
- Create, enhance, test, modify, install, and update embedded software/firmware to support hardware functionality.
- Assess system and software designs, tools, and methods; recommend improvements that raise reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
- Participate actively in design reviews, providing and receiving actionable, constructive feedback.
- Continuously monitor industry advances and incorporate innovative approaches into designs.
- Produce and maintain documentation: specifications, schematics, BOMs, test plans, procedures, and technical reports.
- Travel occasionally as project needs dictate.
What you need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering strongly preferred; OR an Associate’s degree plus 9+ years of electronic design experience (may substitute for Bachelor’s).
- 6+ years of hands‑on electrical or computer engineering experience.
- Deep familiarity with digital communication hardware and protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, IrDA, USB, Wi‑Fi, RFID, TCP/IP, RS‑485, and related interfaces.
- Extensive experience using Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro.
- Proven background delivering CCA hardware and PWB designs from concept to release.
- Ability to operate independently and within multidisciplinary teams, managing priorities and deadlines across concurrent efforts.
- Eligibility to obtain a Security Clearance is required.
Location & travel
This position is based in Mesa, AZ, with occasional travel to suppliers, partners, or test sites.
