Job Description
Randstad is seeking a high-caliber Principal Dynatrace Platform Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert and lead observability architect for a premier enterprise client in Washington, D.C. In this mission-critical role, you will take ownership of the client's enterprise Dynatrace ecosystem, spearheading the architecture, design, and deployment of scalable self-service automation workflows to streamline observability across complex hybrid-cloud environments. As a Gold-level equivalent SME, you will leverage advanced platform capabilities-such as Davis AI root-cause analysis, synthetic monitoring, distributed tracing, and automated remediation-to empower product and engineering teams with actionable operational intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Solution Architecture: Architect, implement, and maintain high-availability Dynatrace deployment strategies across complex multi-cloud and on-premises enterprise environments.
- Self-Service & Automation Engineering: Design, build, and operationalize self-service automation tools, APIs, and CI/CD integrations to simplify agent rollouts, synthetic script deployments, and monitoring lifecycle management for development teams.
- Advanced Feature Exploitation: Leverage cutting-edge Dynatrace capabilities, including Davis AI engine tuning, Cloud Automation, SLO/SLA management dashboards, OneAgent configuration, and distributed tracing.
- Platform Governance & Standards: Define enterprise observability best practices, tag management taxonomies, alerting policies, and configuration-as-code (Monaco / Terraform) frameworks to ensure clean governance and prevent alert fatigue.
- Technical Leadership & Enablement: Partner with cross-functional Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, and application delivery teams to drive observability adoption, troubleshoot critical bottlenecks, and lead incident post-mortem analysis.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Subject Matter Expertise: Proven expertise operating at a Dynatrace Master or Gold-Certified level, with 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise application performance management (APM) and observability administration.
- Automation & Scripting: Strong scripting and automation background using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go, with direct experience utilizing the Dynatrace API and Configuration-as-Code (Monaco / Terraform provider).
- Infrastructure & Cloud Platforms: Demonstrated experience deploying and configuring OneAgents and ActiveGates across containerized platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift) and major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Modern CI/CD & DevOps: Deep familiarity with modern deployment pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and integrating automated performance gates into standard release cycles.
- Architecture & Communication: Outstanding ability to design scalable systems, document technical blueprints, and translate complex observability metrics into high-level strategic insights for technical leaders and stakeholders.
