The Role

We’re hiring a Principal Data Scientist to own one of the most important quantitative systems in the business end-to-end. It’s a decision system with real dollars behind it — one the company relies on to be right, calibrated, and defensible. This is not a research role. You’ll ship, you’ll own what you ship, and you’ll be accountable for how it behaves in production.

You’ll own the modeling, the data plumbing that feeds it, how it’s evaluated, and the story we tell internally about what it can and can’t do. You’ll work directly with the founders and serve as the senior quantitative voice in the room.

What You’ll Do

Own the model end-to-end: data, features, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring. Accountable for calibration, drift, coverage, and the failure modes no one has found yet.

Define the KPIs that matter for a decision system with real dollars behind it. Set the targets. Own the numbers.

Raise the ceiling on the small team of strong practitioners around you.

Who You Are

7+ years of applied data science or ML with real production ownership. Deep in applied statistics — the actual reasoning about bias, calibration, and the gap between offline metrics and production behavior.

Seasoned at owning a software system with a hard-problem analytical core. You’ve built or rebuilt the stack around a model, not just the model file.

Comfortable as an IC. Prior team leadership is a strong plus; day-to-day here is hands-on.

Strong communicator. Comfortable with ambiguity and speed.
