Description
The Principal Controls & Automation Engineer will report directly into the Director of Engineering and be responsible for:
- Lead automation and controls strategy across manufacturing operations.
- Design, implement, and optimize automation systems that improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Develop controls architecture and standards for current and future manufacturing platforms.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, equipment performance, and system reliability.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support equipment development, commissioning, troubleshooting, and scale-up activities.
- Evaluate and implement emerging automation technologies to support business growth.
- Mentor engineers and serve as the subject matter expert for controls and automation systems.
- Support capital equipment projects from specification and design through validation and production launch.
- Establish best practices for automation, controls integration, and manufacturing system performance.

Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering
- 8+ years of controls and automation engineering experience.
- Strong background supporting manufacturing operations.
- Proven expertise in automation systems, controls architecture, and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience leading complex engineering projects and driving measurable operational results.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
