Job Description

The Principal Controls & Automation Engineer will report directly into the Director of Engineering and be responsible for:

  • Lead automation and controls strategy across manufacturing operations.
  • Design, implement, and optimize automation systems that improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop controls architecture and standards for current and future manufacturing platforms.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, equipment performance, and system reliability.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support equipment development, commissioning, troubleshooting, and scale-up activities.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging automation technologies to support business growth.
  • Mentor engineers and serve as the subject matter expert for controls and automation systems.
  • Support capital equipment projects from specification and design through validation and production launch.
  • Establish best practices for automation, controls integration, and manufacturing system performance.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering
  • 8+ years of controls and automation engineering experience.
  • Strong background supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Proven expertise in automation systems, controls architecture, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience leading complex engineering projects and driving measurable operational results.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
