As a Principal Consultant, you'll help clients embed Safety throughout the full capital project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction, commissioning, start-up, and closeout. You'll support proactive identification and control of EHS risks, strengthen safety culture, and help ensure regulatorycomplianceateachprojectstage.Thisroleoffersexposuretocomplextechnicalchallenges,mentorshipopportunities,cross-functionalcollaboration,andlong-termcareergrowthwithinERM'srapidlyexpandingSafetyServicesteam.

WhatYou'llBring

  • Bachelor'sdegreeinsafety,occupationalhealthandsafety,engineering,constructionmanagement,orrelatedfieldorequivalentexperience.
  • 6+ years (10+years preferred)ofcapitalprojectEHSexperience,includingowner-sidesafetysupport,contractoroversight,constructionexecution,andcommissioning/start-up.
  • ExperiencewithSafetyinDesign,constructabilityreviews,PHA/PSM-informedriskreviews,andprojectEHSgovernanceprocesses.
  • StrongknowledgeofOSHAconstruction/generalindustrystandards,LOTO,permitting,emergencyresponse,fireprotection,andhigh-riskconstructioncontrols.
  • Experiencereviewingcontractorsafeworkdocumentation,includingJHAs,pre-taskplans,permits,liftplans,energyisolationplans,trainingrecords,andtoolboxtalks.
  • Strongfieldpresence,communicationskills,andabilitytoinfluencecontractors,projectteams,andclientEH&Spersonnel.
  • ProficiencywithMicrosoftOfficeapplicationsandabilitytomanagemultiplepriorities,travelasneeded,anddeliverhigh-qualityclientservice.
  • Driver'sLicenseRequired:Thispositionrequiresavaliddriver'slicenseand/ortheabilitytooperateacompanyvehicleduetothenatureofjobduties,whichincludefrequenttraveltovariousclientlocationsacrossalargegeographicalarea.

  • CHST,ASP,CSP,OSHA30,confinedspace,fallprotection/prevention,orequivalentcertifications/trainingpreferred.
  • Complexcapitalprojectexperienceinpharmaceutical,high-tech,chemical,LNG,manufacturing,orsimilarsectorshighlydesired.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Serveastheowner'sSafetyrepresentativeacrossthecapitalprojectlifecycle,providingoversight,verification,coaching,andescalationwhilecontractorsretainresponsibilityforexecutionandcontrolimplementation.
  • EmbedSafetyinDesignthroughplanning,engineering,constructability,PHA/PSM-informedreviews,andlosspreventionassessmentstoidentifyandmitigateconstruction,commissioning,start-up,andoperationalrisks.
  • DefineEHSrequirementsforscopesofwork,bidpackages,executionplans,safetyplans,phasegates,contractoronboarding,emergencyresponse,LOTO,andfireprotectionexpectations.
  • DesignandexecuteprojectEHSgovernanceprocesses,includingriskreviews,assuranceroutines,siteaudits,escalationpathways,correctiveactiontracking,andmanagementreporting.
  • Alignproject,engineering,construction,commissioning,operations,contractor,andclientEH&Steamsonsafetyexpectations,accountabilities,communicationprotocols,andincident-freeexecution.
  • Reviewcontractorsafeworkdocumentation,includingJHAs,pre-taskplans,permits,liftplans,energyisolation/LOTOplans,trainingrecords,toolboxtalks,andemergencyresponseplans.
  • Conductowner-sidefieldobservationsandsiteauditstoverifycriticalcontrols,identifyhazards,assesscontractorconformance,andescalatecorrectiveactions.
  • Participateindailyplanningandpre-shiftmeetingstoreviewworkactivities,siteconditions,SIMOPS/interfaces,permitneeds,andsafety-criticalcontrols.
  • TrackandcommunicateEHSobservations,auditfindings,contractortrends,correctiveactions,leadingindicators,andrecommendedactions.
  • Supportcommissioning,start-up,andturnoverreadinessbyverifyingsafetyplanningfornewequipment,energizedsystems,LOTO,operationalinterfaces,permits,emergencypreparedness,andtransitiontooperations.
  • Supportcloseoutbyconfirmingsafetydocumentation,lessonslearned,correctiveactionclosure,demobilizationcontrols,andtransferofEHSrecords.
