Principal CNC Installation & Controls Service Specialist

Location: Harbor City, CA

Travel: Up to 50% with periodic week-long assignments at customer sites

Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 annually

Why this role

Own the toughest installs. After you master Lagun’s product line and procedures, you’ll take point on commissioning large CNC mills, lathes, and machining centers, ensuring every axis, spindle, and subsystem performs to spec. You’ll be the expert customers count on for on-site and in-house support.

What you’ll do

• Run end-to-end installations and commissioning for large CNC equipment.
• Coordinate rigging, placement, and anchoring; perform leveling, alignment, geometric checks, and full calibration.
• Set up and fine-tune CNC controls and motion systems; troubleshoot servos, spindles, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults (to 480V), plus hydraulic and pneumatic issues.
• Read and apply electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
• Execute accuracy and performance validation prior to customer acceptance.
• Deliver safety-focused operator training and basic maintenance instruction.
• Document all service actions, repairs, parts usage, and recommendations.
• Provide professional on-site support during multi-day trips (often a full week) and ongoing in-house assistance.

What you’ll bring

• Proven background independently installing and commissioning large CNC machine tools.
• Experience with machining centers, mills, or lathes; familiarity with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Fagor, Siemens, or similar controls.
• Advanced mechanical know-how: bearings, ball screws, alignment, spindles, lubrication systems.
• Electrical troubleshooting skill up to 480V.
• Precision measurement and calibration using indicators, levels, lasers, or comparable instruments.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, servo systems, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Excellent customer communication; self-directed and effective at client sites.
• Valid driver’s license; able to travel up to 50%.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds; committed to safe work practices in industrial settings.
• Senior-level professional ready to lead—this is not an entry-level role.
