Principal Category Leader
Location: San Luis Obispo, CA
Duration: 6+ Month Contract 
Pay Range: $100 - $130 per hour, W 2

CANDIDATES MUST BE WITHIN CLIENT'S SERVICE TERRITORY AND REQUIRED TO GO TO ON-SITE AT DCPP (AVILA BEACH) WEEKLY. POTENTIAL TO BE HIRED AS FTE LATER BUT NOT GUARANTEED. ASSIGNMENT IS HYBRID.LAPTOP WILL BE PROVIDED.  WILL PROVIDE PPE.

**This work location has an alternating 4/10 Alternate Work Schedule. Please ensure that you only submit candidates who agree to a 4/10 work schedule. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and document market research and supplier risk analysis to verify the financial health of existing and potential suppliers.
• Create and maintain category plans.
• Develop and review performance data with suppliers; work with suppliers to drive ongoing value discovery.
• Develop and sustain mutually beneficial strategic relationships with tier 1 and 2 suppliers.
• Lead cross-functional teams through strategic sourcing processes and develop/execute negotiation strategies for mid-complexity spend categories.
• Lead the development of category strategies of medium complexity.
• Maintain awareness of industry and market trends through ongoing research.
• Act as a subject matter expert for particular commodities or services.

Requirements:

• Experience in the nuclear industry.
• Contracting and negotiating experience, along with category management experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement or related fields.
• Ability to analyze and combine information from different sources to reach appropriate conclusions.
• Ability to apply contract processes and procedures, and relevant contracts and licensing knowledge.
• Capability to work independently with limited oversight.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
• Competency in building strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
• Knowledge of database and information systems, such as SAP.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in contract management.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, or related fields.
• Ability to apply project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Master's degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline preferred.
• ISM-Institute for Supply Management CPSM-Certified Professional in Supply Management certification desired.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification desired.
