We are seeking an experienced Principal Cable Design Engineer to serve as a technical leader in the design and development of advanced coaxial cable products. This individual will help advance the coaxial cable technology roadmap from initial research and product development through production release, process improvement, and long-term manufacturing support.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cable engineer who enjoys being hands-on with product design while collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, applications, program management, and sales teams. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in coaxial cable construction, shielding design, materials selection, and cable manufacturing and has the ability to grow into a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop new coaxial cable products from initial concept through production release.
Develop cable constructions, shielding designs, material specifications, and cable/connector attachment designs.
Optimize electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance while considering manufacturability and cost.
Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, BOMs, and supporting design documentation.
Use SolidWorks/CAD and product data management/ERP systems to document and maintain product designs.
Research new materials, technologies, and design concepts to determine product feasibility.
Initiate, review, and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for new and existing products.
Support designs beyond engineering release by partnering with manufacturing and process engineering to address production challenges and identify improvements.
Identify production sequences, tooling and equipment requirements, manufacturing processes, and test requirements.
Develop and execute test plans and measurement protocols to characterize coaxial cable performance.
Support process and equipment improvements related to cable manufacturing.
Provide technical expertise for customer-funded programs and new product development initiatives.
Review customer specifications and provide technical input for proposals, quotes, design concepts, and performance requirements.
Serve as a technical resource for customer-facing discussions and presentations.
Collaborate closely with a highly experienced, cross-functional engineering team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
