Picture Yourself at Pega:


As a Principal Application Engineer, you will shape enterprise application architecture with a strong focus on the Pega platform. You will define engineering standards, guide strategic solution designs, mentor delivery teams, and influence technology modernization across business-critical platforms.


What You'll Do at Pega:


+ 7+ years, including significant hands-on experience designing and building enterprise applications on the Pega platform

+ 40% Application Development: design, build, test, and deliver enterprise application capabilities on the Pega platform and related technologies

+ 30% Application Architecture: define solution approaches, design reusable components, and guide architecture decisions in partnership with senior and principal architects

+ 20% Technical Review: review application designs, engineering deliverables, and reusable components to ensure quality, scalability, maintainability, and alignment with standards

+ 10% Cross-functional Coordination: partner with business, product, infrastructure, security, compliance, and production support teams to deliver reliable enterprise solution

+ Application Architecture

+ Understand the business architecture (process, data, features/functionalities to solve business problems)

+ Identify and design components to build application under the supervision of Senior/Principal Architects

+ Application Development

+ Develop/code and test the feature and document reusable components

+ Follow devops process to promote code to higher environments

+ Coordinate with infrastructure, security, compliance, and production support teams to ensure delivered features meet quality, operational readiness, and supportability expectations.


Who You Are:


+ You listen to business users, understand their needs, and translate business use cases into practical, scalable solution approaches. Experience with CRM, customer service, or business operations is a strong plus.

+ You can independently design and propose solutions using established engineering practices, seek architectural review for significant design decisions, and ensure code is peer-reviewed to maintain high quality.

+ You design and build reusable components that improve portability, maintainability, consistency, and speed of delivery across enterprise applications.

+ You consistently plan for automated testing, clean documentation, and supportability to improve the quality and long-term maintainability of delivered features.

+ Skills: Strong hands-on Pega experience, including case management, data modeling, decisioning, integrations, security, DevOps, reusable component design, and application performance tuning; object-oriented programming using Java, C++, or similar languages; relational databases such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle; HTML, JavaScript, integration APIs, and common authentication and authorization techniques.


What You've Accomplished:


+ 7+ years of experience building web applications for clients or enterprise users

+ 5+ years of experience designing application components using object-oriented design, relational databases, integrations, and reusable architecture patterns

+ Certified Pega Lead System Architect or Certified Pega Senior System Architect, or equivalent hands-on experience designing enterprise-grade Pega applications

+ Experience working in Scrum teams of 5+ members to develop, test, and deploy application features

+ Experience with authentication, authorization, application integration, and enterprise integration patterns

+ Some experience coordinating with cross functional teams

Additional Information


Base salary range for this role is 113,800 - 176,500 USD annually. This role may also be eligible for annual bonus OR commission, as well as benefits and other incentives.


The final compensation will be determined during the offer process based on the candidate's education, experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as market conditions and may vary from the posted range. We will share an information on benefits, bonus/commission, and other pay components for this role at the relevant recruitment stage.
