Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a PRIMARY STROKE CENTER STROKE COORDINATOR to join our EMERGENCY ROOM!

The AWH Stroke Coordinator is an acute care clinician who is empowered to assess and optimize acute stroke services and to situate the hospital to work effectively within the community stroke system. Serves as the outreach liaison for stroke throughout AWH region by serving as a liaison at the local and state level with initiatives through Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program, Wisconsin Stroke Coalition, and American Heart Association (AHA), etc., while promoting positive public relations and marketing initiatives for the Stroke Center program.

The Stroke Coordinator also serves as a clinical resource for physicians and nurses participating in the care of stroke patients by providing stroke education to members of the health care team based on best practice guidelines. The AWH Stroke Coordinator collaboratively designs and implements quality improvement programs that are supported by defined, measurable outcome targets.

HOURS: Part Time or .6 FTE, 48 hours every pay period. Varied day hours during the week.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Nursing required, Master''s degree in related healthcare field preferred
  • Emergency Neuro Life Support (ENLS) on hire or within 12 months of hire
  • Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) on hire or within 18 months of hire
  • BLS required
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS or ALS) on hire or within 12 months of hire
  • Board certification in acute stroke nursing or general stroke nursing required within 2 year of hire (SCRN).
  • Three years'' management/leadership/project management experience and development in Stroke which should include:
  • Evidence of resource management across several sub level specialties, including staff and finance.
  • Evidence of the ability to effectively lead and implement change and to generate commitment from others.
  • Evidence of working with senior clinicians and managers in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Previous project management experience.
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations, CMS clinical quality measures, Joint Commission or DNV Healthcare accreditation standards, and Primary Stroke Center/ Comprehensive Stroke Center requirements.
  • Able to develop and translate vision into effective strategic and operational plans.
  • Able to demonstrate partnership working skills and the ability to build relationships between individuals, teams, and organizations.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of networks.
  • Able to work as a member of a multi-professional team.
  • Results oriented and able to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of procedures for maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, and other medical information.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communications skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Must be proficient in analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of customers including patients, family, physicians, hospital staff, and EMS.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and teach individuals and groups
  • Ability to identify problems, resolve conflict and administer appropriate service recovery.
  • Organize multiple activities, set priorities, adjust to frequently changing demands, and meet deadlines.
  • Conduct meetings effectively.
