Primary Care Physician (PCP)

A medical group in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a full-time Primary Care Physician to serve participants enrolled in a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program — a capitated Medicare and Medi-Cal program supporting frail seniors age 55 and older who meet nursing home level of care but continue living at home. The physician provides comprehensive primary medical care to enrolled PACE participants, including history and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting labs and diagnostics, functional and mental status evaluations, and management of acute and chronic illness, medication adjustment, and specialist referral.

The role. The physician provides comprehensive primary medical care to enrolled PACE participants, including history and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting labs and diagnostics, functional and mental status evaluations, and management of acute and chronic illness, medication adjustment, and specialist referral. The physician serves as a core member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT), participating in initial, semi-annual, unscheduled, and annual assessments as well as daily morning updates, and acts as supervising physician for the site nurse practitioner and/or physician assistant. Inpatient attending coverage is required when a participant is hospitalized or admitted to a nursing facility. The role also includes participation in QAPI activities and organizational committees, and reports to the Medical Director in coordination with the Program Director for Clinic. Use of a personal vehicle may be required.

What we're looking for.

• MD or DO; board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
• Active California medical license and current DEA registration
• Minimum one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population
• Advanced certification or added qualification in Geriatric Medicine (ABIM/ABFP) preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Must obtain staff privileges at Innovative Integrated Health contracted hospitals
• Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases with immunizations current prior to direct participant contact

Schedule. This is a full-time, day-shift position.

Compensation. $250,000 - $280,000 per year.
