    Requirements
    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
    • Current Texas medical license in good standing with no history of sanctions
    • Active DEA, NPI, and CPR/BLS certifications
    • Ability to meet all agency and facility requirements prior to start
    • Experience treating acute and chronic medical conditions
    • Experience with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities preferred
    • Familiarity with electronic health records, particularly Cerner, preferred
    • Prior experience at a State Hospital or SSLC advantageous

    Responsibilities
    • Manage a caseload of 35–45 patients, typically ≤10 per day.
    • Provide medical care for acute illness, injury, follow-up, and ongoing primary care.
    • Conduct clinics and complete annual and interval medical assessments.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
    • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
    • Document patient care in the electronic health record.
    • Provide on-call coverage every 6th weekday (5:00 PM–8:00 AM) and one weekend every 6 weeks.
    • Respond to most on-call needs by phone, with rare return to campus as needed.
    • Perform weekend/holiday infirmary rounds and evaluate acute illnesses or injuries.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
