Prevention Presenter This position is located in Ozark, Alabama. Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 5:30pm; Friday 8am - 12pm POSITION SUMMARY/FUNCTION Performs as a major mental health and ATOD prevention educator within the catchment area of the Center. Serves as a primary outreach and resource person to establish community contact, increase and develop public awareness of identified mental health and prevention needs, develop and present programs to prevent and alleviate further deterioration of the community, up-dates as necessary and serves as a knowledgeable operational liaison between the Center and the communities within the catchment area. Must obtain and maintain proper certifications for position. Travel may be required within the catchment area. 1.Presents prevention programs. A.Presents programs to schools, juvenile courts and other community agencies in order to provide prevention information to the designated population served by these agencies. B.Ensures communication between SpectraCare prevention staff and other agencies. C.Assists in developing contracts and implements those developed with agencies desiring prevention services. 2.Ensures grant application and required reporting is current and appropriate A.Demonstrates initiative in actively carrying out grants and contracts. B.Ensures all statistical data and related reporting requirements are submitted in a timely manner. C.Prepares documentation of services provided as required by the Alabama Administrative Code, CMS, and all other applicable regulating and contractual entities or grants. 3.Represents SpectraCare in marketing / public relations capacity. A.Coordinates efforts with the Director of Community Services in utilizing media. B.Represents SpectraCare in an educational capacity to various community groups and the general public in coordination with the Director of Community Services. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: •Must pass a current criminal history check annually per the Alabama Administrative Code. •Master’s degree in a human services related field and one (1) year of work experience in substance abuse treatment or prevention, or •Be certified as either a Certified Prevention Specialist or a Certified Prevention Manger by an independent certification board offering a credential approved by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. -OR- •Have a Bachelor’s degree in a human services related field and two (2) years work experience in substance abuse or prevention and shall become certified as a Certified Prevention Specialist by an independent certification board offering a credential approved by the Alabama Department of Mental Health within two (2) years of hire. -OR- •Be certified as an Associate Prevention Specialist (APS)by an independent certification board offering a credential approved by the Alabama Department of Mental Health -OR- •If not currently certified as an Associate Prevention Specialist, shall become certified within two (2) years of hire by an independent certification board offering a credential approved by the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) and shall receive the following: oThe Prevention Director provides documented general supervision of the person with a minimum of two (2) hours of direct supervision each month. •Within twelve (12) months of hire and annually thereafter, shall complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training with at least fifty percent (50%) prevention specific and shall include ADMH approved Prevention Ethics training. Subsequent Ethics training shall be completed every two (2) years. •Possess a valid Driver License with good MVR. •Free from alcohol/drug related misdemeanors and/or felonies for the previous three (3) years. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: •One year teaching experience.
