    Description

    Pressure Pipe Welding Specialist (ASME)

    Employment Type: Full-Time
    Industry: HVAC / Mechanical Fabrication

    A day in the shop

You clock in, review the weld maps for the day, and confer with the Production Supervisor on the exact WPS to run. The Shop Lead lines up workstations, and you set up for carbon steel pipe joints that demand tight fit-up and steady hands. With MIG for speed, TIG for precision, and Stick where needed, you balance throughput with craftsmanship—measuring twice, welding once, and checking your own work as you go. By shift end, your bays are organized, your welds pass visual and dimensional checks, and the next project is already staged.

    What you’ll own

    • Execute high-quality carbon steel pipe welds and support a variety of in-shop fabrication builds.
    • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to select the appropriate welding process and parameters per job.
    • Partner with the Shop Lead to sequence work and hit production targets without compromising quality.
    • Assist teammates with fit-up, troubleshooting, and practical problem-solving on the floor.
    • Apply broad knowledge of fabrication to drive consistent output and minimize rework.
    • Conduct in-process checks and basic QA/QC to verify sound welds and proper documentation.
    • Keep your area safe, tidy, and production-ready at all times.

    What you bring

    • At least 2 years of pipefitting/welding experience (more is welcome).
    • Hands-on mastery across processes: GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and SMAW (Stick).
    • A current 6G GMAW (MIG) carbon steel certification is preferred.
    • Background in both carbon steel and stainless pipe welding.
    • Shop fabrication experience, including layout and fit-up for piping.
    • Familiarity with ASME Section IV standards; ability to meet those requirements is preferred.
    • Active, up-to-date welding certifications.
    • Excellent coordination, steady hand, and strong attention to detail.
    • Sound judgment, initiative, and a reliable track record.

    Physical demands

    • Standing for roughly 90% of the shift.
    • Comfort working in a high-noise production setting.
    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
    • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
