Press Tooling and Die Maintenance Technician – Automotive

Role Snapshot

• Hands-on expert for transfer and line dies: build, changeover, maintenance, and optimization (in-press and offline).
• Precision use of tool room machinery to repair and fabricate details as needed.
• Collaborate with press teams to execute setups and elevate line efficiency to posted targets.
• Own product quality to print; apply GD&T knowledge and CMM/gage feedback to make effective tool adjustments.
• Drive continuous improvement using 5S, Kaizen, and 5-Why root cause problem solving.
• Uphold safety standards and environmental practices; perform wastewater handling duties after required training.
• Support company objectives through CI action plan participation and completion; perform additional tasks as assigned.

Shifts & Premiums

• Afternoons: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (+15% shift premium)
• Midnights: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (+15% shift premium)
• Overtime required as needed to meet customer demand.

What You Need

• Blueprint GD&T fluency for dies, details, and part prints.
• Proven troubleshooting skills to correct daily operational issues.
• Computer literacy and experience with production control panels.
• Ability to read CMM or gaging results and adjust tooling to maintain customer quality.
• Minimum 5 years in metal stamping, prototype, tool and die build, or die repair technician roles.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 standards supporting manufacturing and environmental compliance.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade or college coursework preferred.

Physical Demands & Environment

• Extended sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping, and repetitive motions.
• Excellent manual dexterity; ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds frequently.
• Manufacturing setting with continuous noise exposure.

Equipment & Technologies

• 1500-ton stamping presses

Preferred Proficiencies

• 5-Why (root cause analysis)
• Metal Stamping & Forming (Progressive Die)
• Tool/Die/Mold repair skills
• Tool/Die/Mold setup experience
