About the Role
The Press Manager is responsible for overseeing pressroom operations and developing a high-performing production team. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective results while driving continuous improvement across various printing processes. The Press Manager collaborates with multiple departments to meet customer specifications and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pressroom operations to achieve performance targets in safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
- Build and sustain a safety-first culture by enforcing safety policies and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Ensure product conformance to internal standards and customer specifications.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for print defects and process variations.
- Drive on-time delivery by aligning labor, materials, and schedules across shifts.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to improve press functionality and reliability.
- Analyze production data and convert findings into actionable improvement plans.
- Standardize best practices for press operations and related processes.
- Set clear expectations for supervisors and operators, and develop employees.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of production records and documentation.
- Maintain effective cross-shift communication and manage department supplies.
- Support compliance with food safety, ISO, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
- Compile and communicate department performance results to associates and management.
- Partner with Operations leadership to establish goals, staffing plans, and improvement priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Associates degree or technical degree preferred.
- Previous manufacturing supervision or extensive knowledge of finishing operations.
- Knowledge of flexographic/web handling and converting processes.
- Ability to function effectively with limited supervision.
- Thorough knowledge of all pressroom operations and procedures.
- Strong understanding of production schedule and execution.
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and training skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts.
- Results oriented with strong time management skills.
- Experience with 5S and in an ISO – 13485 and/or SQF certified facility preferred.
- Proficient in using computers, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong work ethics, integrity, and reliability.
Physical Requirements
- Reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Must pass a color exam.
- Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
