Run a region. Own the P&L. Rebuild how a proven water-technology business sells.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client's North American business is at a buy-and-build inflection point. The technology, the reputation, and a long delivery record are in place. What the region lacks is a single accountable commercial leader to unify strategy, professionalize the commercial organization, and make growth predictable. The mandate: more than double the business in four years.
The Group CEO runs the enterprise from outside North America and is deliberately stepping back from regional decisions. This hire becomes the region's principal decision-maker, owning the P&L outright and leading the commercial organization directly, with operations and engineering as close partners rather than direct reports. The weighting of the mandate is commercial.
The honest version: this is a transformation seat, not a caretaker one. The business has grown on transactional, price-led capital equipment selling, and the mandate is to move it to consultative, value-based selling built on guaranteed outcomes and total cost of ownership, while it keeps delivering. The forecast must become Board-reliable, through people who have sold the old way for years.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
General Management & P&L Ownership
· Full P&L accountability. Revenue, EBITDA, gross margin, cost, and cash for the region, with the authority to match.
· Regional decision-making. Resolve complexity locally; escalate only matters of true strategic weight.
· Sales and operations harmony. Ensure what is sold is deliverable and what is delivered is profitable.
Commercial Transformation
· Consultative shift. Architect and drive the move to value-based selling on lifecycle performance and TOTEX.
· Upstream engagement. Move the company into clients' earliest planning cycles so it is specified in, not bid against.
· Recurring revenue. Grow durable service and consumables revenue to improve forecast quality.
Leadership & Reporting
· The team. Hire, develop, and hold accountable the commercial leadership bench; set the operating rhythm.
· Board-grade reporting. Give the Group CEO and Board a credible, data-backed forward view.
· Pipeline discipline. Enforce the CRM as the single source of truth with real qualification gates.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
· Delivery of regional revenue, EBITDA, and gross-margin targets across the multi-year plan.
· Forecast accuracy at a standard the Group CEO and Board can rely on.
· Adoption of value-based selling, evidenced by the share of proposals structured on guaranteed outcomes and total cost of ownership.
· Order-intake growth across all business lines with strong retention in service and consumables.
· Sales-and-operations alignment reflected in reduced delivery variance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· A proven President, GM, Managing Director, or senior VP with combined P&L and commercial-scale accountability.
· A value-based, consultative sales transformation you led, not endorsed.
· Mastery of matrixed organizations: direct-line leadership alongside a corporate dotted line.
· Credible margin governance and board-grade forecasting.
· Deep water and environmental technology exposure: direct competitors, global majors, PE-backed water platforms, or engineered water systems and capital equipment.
· Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field; MBA or advanced management degree highly desirable.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES
· Experience in a lean, fast-moving buy-and-build or sponsor-backed environment.
· A track record growing recurring service revenue alongside capital sales.
· Familiarity with regulation-driven focus markets: healthcare water, industrial and process water, energy, municipal and remediation.
