As Tesla's Preservation and Maintenance Lead on Tesla's industrial construction team, you will own the integrity of stored and staged equipment and materials across one of the most ambitious and advanced processing facility builds in America. From advanced custom fabricated tanks and vessels, rotating equipment to valves, instruments, and fabricated assemblies and skids, you will ensure preservation plans are executed, conditions are monitored, and critically valuable assets remain install-ready and commissioning-ready after months in laydown. This is a detail-critical leadership role for someone who understands that poor preservation becomes irreversible project loss, rework, and startup risk. - Own day-to-day preservation and preventive maintenance execution for equipment and critical materials in warehouse, laydown, and staging areas prior to installation
- Develop and enforce preservation work packs and routines based on manufacturer requirements and project specifications, including lubrication, rotation, nitrogen purge, desiccants, coatings, caps/plugs, and environmental protection
- Lead preservation technicians and coordinate with Warehouse, Logistics, Quality, Construction, and Commissioning to prioritize high-risk and long-lead assets
- Perform and document condition inspections, humidity/pressure checks, and preservation status audits, maintaining traceable records for each tagged asset
- Identify preservation failures or at-risk equipment early, drive corrective actions, and escalate impacts before equipment is released to the field
- Coordinate OEM and specialty vendor preservation requirements for complex rotating and process equipment, ensuring compliance through storage and pre-install handover
- Partner with Construction and Commissioning on install-ready status, ensuring preserved equipment transfers with clear documentation and no hidden deficiencies
- 5+ years of experience in equipment preservation, mechanical maintenance, reliability, or materials caretaking on industrial, refining, chemical, power, or major capital project sites
- Demonstrated ownership of preservation programs for rotating equipment, process equipment, and bulk commodity protection in outdoor laydown and warehouse environments
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturer preservation requirements, lubrication practices, nitrogen blanketing/purge, moisture control, and corrosion prevention methods
- Proven ability to build and run inspection routines, checklists, and traceable preservation records at scale
- Detail-driven leader who can manage many tagged assets simultaneously without losing status accuracy
- Effective communicator across Warehouse, Quality, Construction, and Commissioning teams
- Hands-on, accountable operator with extreme ownership - you protect equipment integrity as if startup depends on it
