Preschool Teacher - Summer in the Park

Summer, 2026

Pay: $23.75 per hour

Part-time, Seasonal, Not Benefit Eligible

We're seeking friendly, enthusiastic candidates to work as Lead Teachers in our Summer Preschool Program with a fabulous team! This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and conducting classes for children ages 3 through 5 years old, with a focus on child-led, open ended, creative indoor and outdoor learning activities.

This position works Monday - Thursday from 8:30am to 1:30pm in our Summer in the Park Preschool Program.

Essential Position Functions

• Develop, plan, implement quality play-based program curriculum for preschool aged children.

• Focus on creative indoor and outdoor play-based learning activities.

• Provide a safe, wholesome, caring and comfortable environment for child participants.

• Communicate with parents/caregivers and supervisors.

• Adapt and independently problem-solve unanticipated situations.

• Track and report program related records.

• Provide work direction to other preschool team members.

• Request supplies and materials as needed.

• Administer basic first aid as needed - training provided!

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or nearly completed degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

• Two (2) years of experience in teaching or assisting a teacher or equivalent work in a similar position.

• Valid driver's license.

Things that may help you be successful in this role

• Previous lead teaching experience in a preschool setting.

• Experience in recreation preschool programs or youth camps.

• CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Supervision

• Preschool Teachers will be responsible for daily work direction of other seasonal staff, leaders in training teen volunteers, and camp participants.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, write, hear, balance, run, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, dance, sing, and do other movement in a variety of environments.
• Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
• Employees may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

• 50% indoors, and 50% outdoors, summer weather conditions resulting in humidity, rain, sunshine, wind and temperatures above 90 degrees.
• Outdoor weather conditions may include sun, rain, wind, humidity, high and low temperatures, snow and other natural weather conditions.

This position is not eligible for benefits.

Summer Teachers are required to attend the following trainings (subject to actual hire date): May 20: Open House. Join us anytime between 4:00pm-5:30pm May 27: Leadership Training at City Hall, 5:00pm-6:30pm June 2 CPR/First Aid, 6:00pm June 8-9: All Staff Training, 9:00am-4:00pm June 11: Open house for Preschool Camps, 9:30am-Noon June 12: First Day of Friday Preschool Are you available for all the dates listed above?
