Responsibilities

The person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting the lead teacher in the supervision and management of a class of ten to twelve children between the ages of 2 1⁄2 to 5 years.

Qualifications

The person selected for this position must meet the educational, health, and safety requirements of the state licensing agency and NAEYC. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both adults and children and at all times act in a professional manner, upholding the philosophy of the school.

• Assist  teacher  with  supervision  of  children  and  implementation  of  curriculum  
• Assist  with  arrival  and  dismissal  procedures    
• Assist  students  who  may  need  extra  help  with  transition    
• Attend  monthly  staff  meetings    
• Inspect  all  play  equipment  for  signs  of  wear  and  tear  and  notify  the  Director  of  any  issues  
• Set  up  play  area  outside  or  inside,  depending  on  weather  
• Break  down  play  area  at  the  end  of  each  day  
• Keep  Resource  Room  picked  up  and  clutter  free  
• Check  supplies  in  Resource  Room  and  inform the office  of  any  supplies  needed  
• Assist  in  maintaining  communal  Bulletin  Boards  in  hallways  as  assigned  by  the  Director  
• Assist  with  laminating  materials  for  use  in  classrooms  
• Wash  snack  dishes  and  return  to  classrooms  
• Serve  as  a  chaperone  on  any  class  field  trips  
• Maintain   all   necessary   immunizations,   TB   tests,   health   requirements,   and   safety   training   as   mandated  in  Staff  Handbook    
• Maintain  all  continuing  education  as  mandated  by  the  state  of  Virginia,  currently  at  16  hours  per   school  year  
• Report  any  suspected  child  abuse  to  Director  and  appropriate  authorities  as listed  in  the  front  of   this  handbook  
• Participate  in  an  annual  evaluation  of  the  program
