Preschool Substitute Teacher Assistant - Per Diem

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is currently seeking a Per Diem Substitute Teacher Assistant for its Mount Carmel Guild Cares Preschool located in Newark, NJ. Mount Carmel Guild Cares is fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is the nation's largest and most influential organization of early-childhood educators, dedicated to improving the quality of programs for young children.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Assist the Preschool Teacher with instructional and non-instructional classroom activities.
• Help maintain a functional classroom environment that supports student learning and achievement.
• Work under the direction and supervision of the Preschool Teacher.
• Support students individually and in small groups.
• Reinforce lessons and instruction provided by the teacher.
• Enforce classroom rules and promote appropriate behavior.
• Track student attendance.
• Prepare materials and equipment for classroom lessons and activities.
• Assist with supervising children.
• Help maintain children’s records and complete assessments.
• Attend parent conferences, meetings, trainings, and workshops scheduled by the Program Manager, Program Director, or school district.
• Participate in daily and weekly staff collaboration meetings.
• Consistently demonstrate appropriate behavior, emotional expression, and positive role modeling.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma
• Experience working in educational setting preferred.
