- Interact with students to meet their individual needs to support play, exploration, and learning.
- Create weekly lesson plans that Implement the school`s curriculum. The creative curriculum is currently used at Newtown Discovery Preschool.
- Communicate daily with children, parents, and staff in a positive, professional manner.
- Communicate appropriately with parents daily
- Ability to create, enhance, and maintain the preschool's policies and program.
- Show knowledge of and be able to use all assessment tools. This includes daily timeline posts and weekly newsletters.
- Maintain developmental profiles for children.
- Carry out parent-teacher conferences twice per academic year
- Develop, plan, and prepare instructional aids/materials for classroom activities.
- Assist children with meal times, bathroom needs, and clean-up when needed.
- Maintain appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom and equipment. Arrange the classroom into well-defined, organized, areas of interest.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, and other meetings upon request.
- Direct the other staff in the classroom to ensure the class is functioning in an orderly manner.
- Prepare substitute materials in case of absence.
