About the Role:Braddock Street UMC in Winchester, VA is looking for a warm, nurturing Preschool Assistant Teacher to join their early childhood education team! This is a wonderful opportunity to make a lasting impact on young learners during their most formative years in a supportive, faith-based environment.
Responsibilities:- Assist the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and daily curriculum activities
- Supervise and engage preschool-aged children during classroom activities, meals, and outdoor play
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment for all children
- Support children's social, emotional, and developmental growth through play-based learning
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding child progress
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom space
- Assist with behavior management using positive reinforcement techniques
Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Prior experience working with preschool or early childhood-aged children
- Genuine passion for child development and early education
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass a background check and meet state childcare licensing requirements
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a faith-based setting
