Summary: An assistant teacher at The Newtown Discovery Preschool is responsible for working with a lead teacher and in conjunction with the entire faculty to establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher to create and deliver lesson plans, implement school curriculum, and assess developmental needs of students. Manage and participate in a variety of learning activities that provide opportunities for children to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning goals. Present lessons in a nurturing, curiosity-driven environment that fosters the appropriate developmental stages in children's lives. Assist the lead teacher in implementing activities and curriculum that will support and develop self-esteem and social skills. Assist children with meal times and clean-up. Maintain a healthy and safe environment. Communicate on a daily basis with children, parents and staff in a positive, professional manner. Participate collaboratively and professionally with other teachers and staff to promote the general well being of the school, and collective/individual interest of its staff and student body. Positively interact with students to meet the individual needs to support play, exploration, and learning. Attend and participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, and other meetings upon request.
