The Preparation Tech Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of preparation department equipment within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, supports production goals, and leads employees in maintaining safe and efficient operations. The Preparation Tech Manager works closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Leadership teams to ensure all machinery operates at optimal performance levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of preparation department equipment and machinery.
  • Oversee all aspects of Twisting department
  • Prepare purchase orders
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation-related equipment issues.
  • Coordinate and prioritize preventative maintenance activities to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Lead and support technicians and maintenance personnel in diagnosing and repairing equipment failures.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend process improvements or upgrades.
  • Ensure equipment repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
  • Work collaboratively with Production leadership to support operational goals and minimize disruptions.
  • Train employees and technicians on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to productivity, quality, waste reduction, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and PPE requirements.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies for the department.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to equipment failures.
  • Support emergency maintenance needs and provide technical guidance during critical breakdowns.
